A Great Split Pea Soup
2 Quarts Chicken Stock OR 2 Quarts Water With 2 Tablespoons Chicken Base
1 Bag Split Peas -- or 2 cups
1 Medium Onion -- diced
1 Large Carrot -- chopped
1 Stalk Celery -- chopped
1 Ham Hock Or 1 Ham Bone
1 Teaspoon Bacon Drippings
Pepper -- to taste
Add all to a slow cooker and put on low for 8-10 hours or low for 5 hours and high for 1 hour. Remove ham hock and debone. Puree soup and then add ham back in. Serve.
