Bean Soup

1 gal. water
1 lb. white baby lima beans (washed thoroughly)
1 lb. ham hocks or leftover hambone with ham
1 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped bell pepper
1/2 c. chopped celery
2 cloves garlic, grated or crushed
2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. black pepper


Cook all ingredients until very tender. Add more water (may be added if needed). Serve with hot cornbread.
