Beef and Vegetable Soup

1 tbsp. oil
1 lb. beef (top round cut in small cubes)
3/4 c. chopped onion
9 c. water
1 tbsp. dried basil
7-9 beef bouillon cubes
1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
1 1/2 c. sliced carrots
1 1/2 c. sliced celery
4-8 oz. broken spaghetti

Brown beef and onion in oil. Add water, bouillon cubes and basil and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Add stewed tomatoes, carrots and celery and simmer 15 minutes. Add spaghetti and simmer 15 more minutes or until spaghetti is cooked.
