1 med. potato, diced large
1/2 head cabbage, chopped
6 inch piece Polish sausage
1 to 2 tbsp. bacon fat
1 to 2 tbsp. flour
1 sm. onion, chopped
Salt, pepper, sugar
Put cabbage in soup pot. Add one medium potato. Fill pot 1/2 way up the cabbage with water. Cook until tender. meanwhile, cook sausage in a fry pan. Drain off fatty water. Cut sausage in pieces and add to soup. In same fry pan, put in bacon fat. Melt. Add flour and brown. Add cold water gradually to make a thick "gravy". Add onion and cook 2 to 3 minutes. Combine in soup. Season with salt, pepper and approximately 1 teaspoon sugar. Serves 2 to 3.
