Carrot Chowder

1 lb. hamburger
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. celery, chopped
1/2 c. green pepper, diced
1/2 c. onion, chopped
4 c. tomato juice or 1 qt. homebottled tomato juice
2 cans cream of celery soup or 2 1/2 c. homemade celery soup
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. garlic salt or 3 lg. cloves garlic, minced
2 1/2 c. grated carrots
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. ground marjoram
1/2 tsp. pepper
Cheese slices - any flavor

Brown meat; drain. Add salt, celery, onion, peppers. Cover and simmer on low heat until vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes. In large saucepan combine tomato juice, celery soup, water, carrots, garlic, salt, pepper, marjoram. Bring to boil then simmer 30 minutes. Serve over sliced cheese.
