Cheddar Chowder

2 c. water
2 c. diced potatoes
1/2 c. diced carrots
1/2 c. diced celery
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Boil 12-15 minutes. Make a white sauce by melting 1/4 cup margarine, 1/4 cup flour added and stir until smooth. Slowly add 2 cups milk, cook until thickened. Add 2 cups grated Cheddar cheese. Stir until melted. Add sauce and 1 cup chopped ham to undrained vegetables. Heat through.
