Norwegian Fruit Soup

2 c. mixed dried fruit
3 c. water (enough to cover)
1/2 c. grape juice (optional)
1/2 lemon, sliced
2 tbsp. sago or pearl tapioca (soak overnight)
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 to 2/3 c. sugar
1 stick cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves


Cook fruit in water until tender. Add juice, lemon, cloves, sago/tapioca, salt and cinnamon. Cook until sago/tapioca is clear/translucent. Sweeten to taste. May be served hot or cold.
