Oyster and Okra Chowder

1 lg. onion, chopped
1/8 lb. salt pork
3 tomatoes, peeled and chopped
4 okra pods
24 oysters
2 sweet peppers minced
3 1/2 pt. white stock
1/3 tsp. curry powder
1 tsp. arrowroot

Brown the onion in the salt pork, then add the tomatoes, the okra and peppers. Add white stock and curry and simmer for 15 minutes. Add the arrowroot mixed with a little cold water. Cook 5 minutes longer. Just before serving, heat the oysters in their own liquor for 3 or 4 minutes and add to the soup.
