Wild Rice Soup

1/2 c. wild rice, uncooked
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 lb. bacon, cut in pieces
1/4 c. chopped onion
2 cans cream of potato soup
1 qt. milk
1/2 soup can milk
1/2 soup can water
2 1/2 c. grated American cheese

Cook rice in water 45 minutes and drain. Fry bacon and onion. Combine all ingredients in large kettle and cook over low heat until cheese is melted. 8-10 servings.
